We were saddened to hear of the death of Professor Sir Alistair MacFarlane in November. Sir Alistair was a staunch supporter and advisor to the ÐÔÊӽ紫ý Project from its inception. He served as Chairman of the ÐÔÊӽ紫ý Academic Advisory Board and was a member of Academic Council throughout the 1990s, bringing his expertise& in the application of new technology to learning. As Chief Executive (interim) of the ÐÔÊӽ紫ý Project, he provided the gravitas and political acumen to guide us to designation as a higher education institution in April 2001 – and the birth of ÐÔÊӽ紫ý Millennium Institute. He was undoubtedly one of the pivotal figures in our history. We hope he was proud of the institution we have become.
